A Baby on the Way.

A baby girl is on the way! Of course, not for my husband and I, we will be waiting a couple of years...but for my sister and brother in law! This will be my first niece and I cannot wait to love on her. With the due date quickly approaching, my brother in law's sister and I decided to throw my sister a Baby Sprinkle. A couple months ago, we started off by picking a date, time, and space. Living in NY, space can put you in a bit of a pinch, especially for a get together. However, we decided to take on the challenge of making my small apartment a spacious place for about 15 girls to hang out and chitchat. We then planned the menu and decor and the different teas we would be having at the tea station. Fast forward to a couple of days ago and we had ourselves a great time, good conversation, and plenty of space!

Flourless Dark Chocolate Cake With Almonds.

This past week I made a flourless cake. This was my first time making one of these and let's just say that it will not be my last. It was so good and so rich and definitely a winner with the husband. Add some berries on top and it will win over any (dark) chocolate lover. I have to thank my sister for this idea!

Recap

So, yet again, it's been awhile. However, lately I've been thinking about how I should be documenting this journey in NY and keeping up with my little blog. So here I am. Since I haven't posted since last Fall, I have a lot to fill you in on but I'll just use some pictures to do so. Basically, we have been adjusting quite well over here in Brooklyn. We are loving the experience and exposure to different cultures, etc. We have really enjoyed exploring the city, restaurants, museums and everything else over here. There are times where it's a bit hard but that is only because P and I love nature and being outdoors and thats hard to find here without venturing outside the city limits. Last November, I was hired at a nearby hospital as a Labor and Delivery nurse! Although it has definitely been quite an adjustment, I am loving this field and the people that I work with. P has been working at a couple of museums around the city including MoMa, MoMa PS1, and the Tally Beck Contemporary Gallery. He is learning so much and has really gained a lot of skills and insight into this field. It's also really nice because with his MoMa affiliation, we get free admission to all of the museums around the city. Woo! Over these last few months, we've had many friends and our families visit. We miss them dearly and are looking forward to going back home for a visit sometime this summer. Here are some pictures from the last couple of months--Enjoy!

It is getting cold around here.

Fall is here and we are starting to feel and see this throughout the city. The air is a little colder, the trees are a little less green, and all of the coats and scarfs are starting to come out from storage. We love this time of year and we are so excited to see the fall on the east coast. Actually, one of the reasons why we moved here in the first place is so that we could experience the season changes. Coming from California, all of the seasons tend to blend together and they are not as extreme as they are over here. With all of this said, we have been making some yummy eats in the kitchen. Since October 1st, I think we have had at least one pumpkin treat a day. Whether it is pancakes, tea, or cookies; pumpkin seems to be sliding its way into everything! Hopefully we don't get sick of it come November!

Now that my NY nursing license has officially gone through, I am on the hunt for a jobs. Of course, I have my preferences, but I think I will take anything at this point. I am really looking forward to the day (hopefully sooner than later) where I can use all of my learned knowledge and skills to practice as a registered nurse and help my current community. I have been so blessed throughout my journey and I am so anxious for the coming steps. Wish me luck!
